Map updates now automatic

The Minecraft map now updates automatically!
It should update every few hours (it wait 1 hour between renders). The block on the bottom of every page will tell you the last time the map was updated, as well as how many players we have online.

Rumfishian / Slacker New Years 2011

Forums:

Come one, come all, bring yer booze (and some food!) and have a good time!

I have posted an event on Facebook for the party, if I haven't invited some of you to it yet let me know. I'd like a preliminary rough estimate of how many people will be coming out so I can make at least some preparations.

Here's the event text copied straight from FB:

Hey all - I'm planning on hosting what is going to end up being a Rumfishian / Slacker New Year's party, which will start out with the annual pilgrimage to Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati.

Whitelist Returns!

Forums:

Due to suspicious traffic on the Minecraft server, we have switched back to the whitelist method of account management. As a reminder, our servers are private. If you know us or someone who knows you knows us, you may petition to have your name added to the whitelist. Please log in once to the server before petitioning so your account information will be automatically added to the server. This will facilitate the process. All current players will be automatically whitlisted. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Rosetta@home team!

Now our site officially supports wasting your computer's time too! No, seriously, this is an awesome project and we have a lot of computing power sitting around.

In case you are unaware, the @home projects are distributed computing projects where you donate idle processing time (and the power associated with it) to do scientific calculations. In order to participate, install the BOINC client, add the Rosetta @home project, and add our team. Then see if you can be the average output of Zerm or myself!

Update: 1.9 Pre Release 5

The server is now running 1.9pre5

1.9 Pre Release Part 4 Update!

Forums:

The Minefish.net Test server has been updated to the 1.9 pre release 4! This is quite a big leap and includes a massive amount of new content and game mechanics which you can read about HERE.

This update will require you to update to the new version by downloading and replacing your minecraft.jar file. Minecraft stores its game data in the AppData directory of your User folder.

Download the pre release part 4 minecraft.jar file from http://assets.minecraft.net/1_9-pre4/minecraft.jar and replace your copy of minecraft.jar.
